I saw that you are from Fla. I would try one of the Jax Wax products. They don't leave that white wax film on the edges. You can also use the product right on the stripe and it won't do any harm.

Don't know if it's proper, but I've used Armor All wipes to keep it from oxidizing. I wax the car, then carefully wipe it down. The Armor All pulls up wax. Mine is the CF vinyl and will have oxidized looking spots in it.

I've considered removing it, but I'm leaning on another option first.

Look into some Adam's Super VRT. The Camaro crowd has been using it with great results on their stripes.

I use spray my CF stripe with Meguires detail spray. After three years, the stripe looks like new.

Personally, I'm a firm believer (and 10 year user) of ProtectAll... great on vinyl, leather, glass, carbody. As the name implies, it protects 'all' surfaces. A carnuba wax. their website.... Protect All - Home Page
I've used it faithfully since I bought my prowler new in 02.
The only place to get it... is either online or at an RV store, or in the RV section of your local WallyWorld. It is NOT in with the automotive stuff.
An $8 bottle lasts quite a while and delivers on its promise. And of course no 'white' residue. Easy to use, spray on your cloth, then wipe, flip cloth over, and buff.
No hazy dry, just a good coating of carnuba in a very simple form.
