Ok, so living in Texas, I am supposed to put a license plate on the front of the Chally; but I just can't bring myself to do it...

Does anybody have any good ideas on an alternate mounting setup, instead of the old, "Drill 2 holes in the bumper cover" routine??

For now I am leaving the front plate in the glove compartment, and may put it up in the dash if I get pulled over. But, I have 0 (zero), nada, none, NO DESIRE to plunk two holes in the front bumper.

(When I went to pick up the tags from the dealer yesterday, the girl at the front desk asked me if I wanted them to install the plates, I had a hard time not laughing about it... "Um, no. I will put them on at home, but thanks!"

Easy solution. I, along with many others, are using another method that will only cost you about $2.

Just turn your license plate bracket upside down and secure it to the lower grill using 5" toggle bolts. The bottom edge of the bracket will rest on the front spoiler. Then cover the threads and the edge of the license plate with slit rubber tubing (to protect the plastic).

This is what I did to my Challenger 3 years' ago. It looks and works great.

No problem with ground clearance or over-heating issues, either.

Sammy... you may well find... like I have over time... that they don't tend to bother you about that... not 'in and of itself'... not a 'big' deal. I haven't had a front plate on any car that I've owned since 1997, and I live in a two-plate state as well. Even the few times that I have been stopped, and once even ticketed, the lack of a front plate was never even mentioned. Keep the plate in your trunk. If they do stop you because of it, simply tell them that the bracket fell off, you have the plate in the trunk and were 'just waiting on parts' to re-install it... THEN spend your money and order the under-car bracket.

Or others I know of in our car groups up here have done this: rubber band the plate to the 'exposed-down' side of the passenger's sun visor. When you take off, lower the visor, when you're done, raise it. That works too inasmuch as the 'law' simply states that it must be visibly displayed front and rear, and apparently this complies with the law.
