The 3.6 motors come with standard non-synthetic oil from the factory. I'm not sure about the brand. MOPAR does not have its own brand of oil, just filters. My 6.1 SRT came with Mobil 1 full synthetic.

after buying a car where you have it serve? the dealer? I understand that everyone decides for himself what kind of oil to pour.

The standard fill on most car engines, like the 3.6, is conventional oil. This is the least expensive oil and it should be changed every 3,500 miles or 4 months, whichever comes first.

Many Challenger owners, like myself, change their own oil. We do it to save money and make sure that it is done correctly.

If you take your Challenger to a dealer, it will replace the conventional factory oil with a similar conventional oil. If you want synthetic oil, they will gladly install it but you will pay three times the amount.

    Synthetic has three advantages, however:

    1. It provides ultimate protection for high performance engines, like my 6.1 Hemi.

    2. It only has to be changed once a year.

    3. It can provide better mileage and slightly more horepower because of less friction in the engine.
