    Oil Change Tip

Anyone using a "fast-flow" stepped-up tube funnel and 5 qt. wide-mouth oil jugs, be careful.

If you fast fill a 5.7 too fast, an air bubble will occur and the oil will back up and flow through the PCV intake hose, below the oil fill port, and onto your driveway creating a big mess!

Just take your time and remember to fill the filter before you start the engine.

What grade of oil do you use. 5w20 sounds awful light. I was thinking 5w30 with 16oz of marvel oil myself.

Stick with 5W-20 for the 5.7 Hemi. It's just right.

5w20 is what the 5.7 calls for if you are going to change the grade I would go with a 0w20 and not a 5w30, also I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w20 and still change it every 3000, if I go over I have no need to worry!

Feel like paying $110 for an oil change at the dealership is a bit excessive

Use 0-40W synthetic. Pennzoil and Mobil 1 are two excellent brands.

Good prices are available at Wal Mart.

Do not use 0-20W oil in your 5.7 Hemi.

The 5.7 Hemi uses a Multiple Displacement System (MDS). If you use the lighter weight, improper operation of the MDS and other engine problems may occur.

I work with oil all day long and 0w20 would not affect the MDS as it is a 20 weight oil after start up the 5 & 0 is the start up weight!!
