I've loved the look of these for a while now, and to put a worrying spouse at ease, I'm looking to see if anyone has had any serious problems with this car.

I'm also kind of anxious as to deciding whether or not to get one since I've had several Dodge cars over the years but all were not the greatest. Brand new off the lot Dodge Neon, I sunk around 5 grand into it before trading it in for a new Intrepid and same thing. My Charger ended up being pretty bad as well so I almost swore off Dodge cars. Now I've had a 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo for a few years, but with the transmission going and not wanting to drop anymore money into this lemon, I just want to set my worries at ease.

Some of the things I've read have said to go with the R/T and up to not have problems, others say that the SXT is fine. Are there any specific years I should watch out for? Or have you guys and gals not seen anything seriously bad happen in these when proper care is taken?

As with any car manufacturer, there is the odd lemon. My 2010 R/T has only had 1 problem with it and it was a known issue from the factory, crank sensor. Car only had 1200 mi. on it at the time, other than that no problems at all.
There was a recall on the timing chains on the 5.7 with the mds for 09 & 10, had that taken care of with no issues. ( no sign of a timing chain problem either)
With regular maintenance the Challengers have been problem free as with most vehicles now a days.

I've had no problems with my 2009 SRT, other than cracked plastic rocker panels and interior window trim.

When my car was new, however, there were several TSBs (technical service bulletins) for a bigger battery, thicker battery cable, a driveabilty reflash and key fob reflash.

I have 12000 trouble free miles on my 2015 SXT Plus, no issues at all.
