From actual experience, how would you rate owning a newer model Challenger 'overall' as opposed to all other cars you've ever owned in your lifetime? [IMG]

My 2009 SRT has exceeded my expectations. I love the retro styling and fantastic performance from its 6.1 Hemi.

It's like having my 1971 340 'Cuda back, only better.

    Sight?

What about your field of vision when in the driver's seat?
I've noticed the view is rather restricted with the tight windows and panels that obstruct your line of sight.

There is a blind spot behind the wide rear C pillar. Also, if you have to parallel park, I would get the rear camera.

That being said, vision in the Challenger is far superior to that of the Mustang and Camaro. The Camaro is particularly bad. One writer has compared the Camaro's window view to "looking out from a Normandy pillbox slit."

I suggest that you test drive a Challenger, as well as some other brands, to see what you can live with.

I have owned a lot of cars. I have to say my 2015 Shaker R/T is one of the best cars I've ever had, I absolutely love it and have had 0 problems and I run it hard on occasion. I wanted one as a teenager in the 70's, could not afford it. This one makes up for it in spades! Go drive one, you won't want to give it back.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2011 Challenger R/T Classic. Great looks, strong performance, and proved to be very reliable. Only an alternator and a wheel speed sensor failure marred the record.

Not too many cars that can carry 3 or 4 adults and their luggage and still get 25 mpg on the highway.

Comparing the 2016 392 Scat Pack to other cars I have owned falls into two different groups under 2 different settings. Traction control versus non traction control. Old muscle cars and old plus newer Corvettes. I have owned C3, C5, C6 and C7 Corvettes. I have owned a 67 Impala SS, 69 Road Runner and 71 Torino Cobra. Compared to old muscle cars, shutting off the traction control makes the Scat Pack almost as uncivilized as them but only on traction and to me that is a good thing. I think it is impossible to recreate the god awful steering of the old muscle cars. It is 45+ year old technology. Liability lawyers probably wouldn't let them make them handle that bad even if they wanted to. LOL
As far as Corvettes it isn't fair to state better or worse because they are so totally different. Each built with two totally different goals in mind. Corvettes crave twisty roads. They are low, have wide sticky tires and even with traction control off you always feel like the Corvette is civilized, is stuck to the road and will go where ever you point it no matter how fast you go. The Challanger Scat Pack is a beast but great fun in it's own right. High stance. Brute power. Pure muscle. And for what ever reason that completely escapes me, comes with tires that are way to skinny for this amount of HP. Guess Dodge figures with this much torque you'll fry any tire they put on so might as well save money and stick 245's on it. With all traction and handling controls off can best be described as a junkyard dog that will bite you hard if you don't know what you're doing or get stupid and cocky. I'm with one of the other commenters. I wouldn't give mine back. Take a test drive. You won't be disappointed. Bottom line is it doesn't take brains or driving skills to own a car like this. All it takes is money so be safe. If you buy one and want to get stupid with it. Take it to a track.

No doubt, I've had a couple WRX's - 5.0 fox body Mustang, 280Z, etc... but nothing has compared to the Challenger. Any Mustang I've driven hasn't been in the same league. Can't say the same for Camaros, as I've only riden in those ( refuse to drive a Chevy :) ) but the comfort, handling, power, unbeatable.

Oh and if you're a shy person, forget it. My wife and I go out for a date night every Tuesday, and there hasn't been one night yet where someone didn't make an effort to tell us how awesome the car is.

I've owned a lot of cars in my 55 years of driving. As a young man I bought a new 1967 Coronet 440 2 door. Then I went to a '69 Charger, a '72 Charger, a '75 Charger and a '78 Magnum. That was the end of my muscle car/sport-luxury car days as I went thru a divorce in 1982 and the Magnum went to the ex. Of those cars, the '69 Charger is far and away my favorite. I believe it to be the best example of American automobile design ever. That said, I find after less than 2 weeks with my '13 Challenger R/T it is a lot more fun to drive than the '69 was. However, that's only because of the advances in technology in 44 years. I still give the nod for design to the '69; but, this car is great and I give the comfort/driving experience nod to the '13. BTW, I bought this car without having ever sat in one, including this one. If you have MOPAR blood in your veins, you will love it.
