Here's an informative video from Eric the Car Guy. He had Mobil 1 Annual Protection Oil tested by an independent lab after one year of use and 20,000+ miles. The results were that it works as advertised.

I ran Royal Purple for the only oil change I have done on my car so far. I thought about switching to Amsoil, because I can get it pretty cheap through my job. Is it really a bad idea to switch what oil you run or not? Heard that from a couple people.

Switching oil brands would not be an issue- just as long as the new oil meets the API-licensed standards for your car.

I have been using 0W-40 Mobil 1 in my 2009 SRT for the past 10 years. Not only does it prevent the "Hemi tick," but it is relatively cheap at Walmart.

I have a tick with my 2015 5.7L but also it clatters sometimes when adding a little throttle, light acceleration while cruising. To me it sounds like detonation. I run mid-grade Shell and have tried premium with no difference. It only has 6,000 miles on it, I got it's first ("free") oil change at the dealer at 3,000 miles. Pretty sure it was just conventional oil. I'm not sure if this noise is just inherent to the 5.7L or not. At first I thought it only happened when switching from 4 cyl mode back to 8 cyl, but that's not the case.
I'm getting ready to pull the winter tires and do an oil change. To try this, does it have to be Mobil 1? I'd think any synthetic would give the same results.

You could try any quality full synthetic oil, like Pennzoil Ultra, but I have had success with Mobil 1. With MDS, make sure you get the correct viscosity.

The thought was, at least with the Older Engines, was the rings would never seat with full synthetic oil.
So we ran conventional oil for at least 10k miles before switching.

Now days, with the 0-50wt I am guessing the tolerances and ring material are much better.
