Trunk Lid "Strong Arms"

Does the trunk lid on a Challenger pop open and raise up pretty much on it's own? Mine will pop an inch when unlatched, but just sits there. I have to use some force to raise the lid, almost like I'm fighting the hydraulic "strong arms". To put it another way, my wife and daughter really struggle to get the lid open all the way. If you raise it half way and let go, it'll drop back down to the rear facia. Seems like its got too much resistance. Wanted to check with all of you before I take it to a dealer, I still have warranty.

 

Funny, I never realized it had assist.
Mine kind of lifts from about 1/2 way.
Maybe without the rear spoiler it may lift sooner,
but won't lift all the way after popping the button.

 

I had to drive mine all winter in Minnesota. When it was -34 degrees the trunk would not stay open because the cold effected the cylinders.

 

The Challengers trunk lid will just pop up a little but will not open itself. They all do that on my 2016 & 2018 and my wife's 2017. I prefer it that way because it can be hard on the hindges/arms if it springs open.

 

Gee! I remember when you had to put a key in the lock to open the trunk.

 

Normal, you can either use the latch or 'key'. I find the latch easier than using the key. To each their own. I agree with Zen357.
