If anyone wants to know, you can install 275/40-20 tires on stock 9" wide wheels on the front and rear of a 2008-2010 Challenger SRT without clearance issues.

The 9" wheel (rim width) is right in the sweet spot for 275/40 tires. Essentially, the 275/40 is a "plus zero" size up from the stock 245/45 tire. The diameter and sidewall heights remain the same. You are just shifting the tread width size and compensating with a lower aspect ratio.

Here is a photo of the rear tire clearance.

I did this on my 2014 SRT Challenger which came with 245/45 in the front and 255/45 in the rear. I went up to 275/40 in the rear and 255/45 in the front with no issues and no affect on the speedometer.

Could you put a 295 on the back with a different rim, or would you just have other problems? I assume you put the 275 on the stock rim that came with the car and a 245 on it?

the 275/40/20 size will be my next set of tires. I know a guy who has them on the front of his RT and has 295/40/20 on he back, but has 10 in rims on the rear.

The 275/40-20 tire also looks great on the rear. Check out my 2009 SRT.

those will require at least a 10" rim.

I love the looks of my 275/40/20 front and 295/40/20 rear on stock 9" SRT rims.
Really wanted 285/40/20 for the rear, but found these used for cheap and already have over 15k miles on them.
