Hey guys. I've been lurking for awhile and thought I'd finally join. I currently drive a 16 Mustang GT and looking for something different with a little more torque down low. I've been thinking about either a Challenger Scat Pack or Camaro SS on and off for a couple years now and likely to be pulling the trigger soon. I can't seem to decide on the exact trim and color I want as there are some options I like in each trim. If I go with the Challenger, I'm leaning towards an automatic SP with dynamics or brass monkey package, upgraded audio and plus package in octane, go mango, sinnamon stick, F8 or hellraisin. I'm also considering the wide body or 1320. I know the WB may be a bit too pricey for a 20 and it looks like you can't get a colored interior with the 1320. I really wanted the caramel or may settle for red unless I can get something like katzkins in ceramic or tan installed at a decent price.
Welcome. You have all good choices. Yopu can't go wrong with a Sinnamon Scat Pack. The new color will set it off from other Challengers you may see in your area. Good luck!
WELCOME!! just remember , with those other cars , you have no room in them. not very comfortable to drive in my own opinion,
Thanks. I wouldn't think a Camaro as a DD would be much different than my mustang except for the smaller trunk and no lumbar support in the seats. Although If I ever go on longer trips, I'm sure the Challenger would be more comfortable. I am tempted to go look at a fairly loaded 19 torred 1320 on sale at 13k off with the current hp rebate, but you may be right B5blueRT, it may be worth it to wait and maybe pay a little more to get an awesome color combo as I hate to spend as much as these cost and not get exactly what you want.
Welcome! I spent a couple years trying to find a replacement for my 2003 Cobra convertible. Just hated the Mustang GT. Terrible clutch and miserable bottom end torque. The Camaro had a great clutch and gobs of bottom end torque. Unfortunately, I just wasn't loving the interior. Challenger wasn't even on my radar at the time. Then I happened to read a post online by a guy guessing about his Challenger and it struck a cord with me. So I reluctantly visited my local Dodge dealer and test drove an R/T. Fell in love with the car right away. After a ton of research I ended up with a 2019 Scat Pack widebody. Best car I've ever had by far! Totally love it! So my advice to you is just go drive the cars and you'll know which one to buy.
The Fords and Chevys have plenty of power but very little room or trunk space and that matters to me. I am old school....born in '50. I remember when the Mustang hit the streets at a whopping MSRP of $2368 back in '64. I remember the first time that I saw a new '67 Camaro.....must have about March of '67. Both of these designs took the auto world to a different place and they still make a difference today. Although bigger and heavier I chose the '16 R/T Challenger over any other muscle coupe that is out there. Plenty of room and power, for me anyway. About a year ago I drove my Challenger from south of Denver to west of Boise and that is just shy of 900 miles in 12 hours. Once I got out of Colorado and got into Wyoming, there was a posted speed limit of 80 mph on the wide open interstates in Wyoming, Utah and Idaho so, I made good time. Said that to say this......on the interstate with the cruise set at 80 mph I was getting 25-27 mpg and the Dodge was solid as could be on the highway thanks to its 4200 lb weight. In 6th gear the tach says 1800 rpm at 80 mph. If you can find one, the R/T Scat Pack is an excellent mix of power and looks at a cheaper/affordable(?) price, IMO. Manual or Auto.....your choice. Either or are more than respectable. Welcome to the forum. It is a good addiction.
