I have a 2018 Challenger SXT, F8 Green. It's only 2.5 years old and the clearcoat is peeling off of the 2 strips that run along the roof near the sides.

Are those painted rubber? Is this a common problem? Is the paint covered under warranty? And is there anything I can do to mitigate or improve the situation?

    Thanks.

That definitely should be covered by your warranty. I would get it into your dealer right away.
I dont think I’ve ever heard of this issue before.

I remember the clear-coat problem on GM years back. especially trucks. never heard anything like this on our modern cars.

Its under warranty provided the roof wasn't repainted. (i.e. - hail damage?) Get it to the dealer asap.
    Keep us posted!

Yes, they are painted rubber. To avoid having to repaint them again, just have them install a non-painted (black) set. The black strips will match your color theme, so they should look great. To fully integrate them, cover the top and rear deck with 3M matte black wrap. If you want, you can always remove the wrap later.

There was a similar issue back in 2009, due to an excessive amount of clearcoat applied at the factory. There was a Raid Response Transmittal- RRT 09-047 issued informing dealers to replace the moldings before the cars were sold. Maybe you have the same problem?

    Here is the RRT:

    Microsoft Word - RRT #09-047 REV B.doc (sequentialtaillights.com)

Ceramic Paint works pretty well. Makes drying faster. But don't let water dry on it.

Yup...I purchased a 2018 used 3 mo ago..It also had the exact clear coat peel that you mention, just on roof tracks.....The car dealer, [used] sanded and re-applied clear...Not perfect...but ? Not sure what causes it...But seems to me..the entire paint from factory has too much clear on it...blocks some of the deep sparkle that my Octane Red was known for...{ [ previously owned 2018 Charger, same color...and it was bursting with the sparkle }...Oh well...
