I recently purchase a 2021 Challenger SXT. The only issue is when you press the start button and the engine fires up you get a very noticeable bang or thump from the rear. Dose this only on start up. Brought it back to the dealer once already and they seem to have made it worse, ☹️ Anyone have a similar issue. Thanks. Liam

Thanks, going to give them another attempt but seriously this is something that shouldn’t require a return visit. I believe it’s something with the exhaust system as they did. They claim to have adjusted a clamp but now it does it every time so no I truly don’t have much confidence in this dealership. If they don’t correct it this time I guess I’ll try another dealership. Car is only two weeks old with less than 100 miles on it.

Have somebody lie down on the ground to watch your tail pipes as you start the car. Should be easy enough to tell if part of the pipes are banging against something.

Check to make sure your exhaust tips aren’t turned up against the rear panels. I doubt that would make much noise but its a place to start with. I’d lay under the car without it running and move the pipes around to see if there is any bump points.

Well, took the Challenger back again for the start up thunking noise. Blew me away with what I was told. They are now saying it’s not an exhaust issue but a drivetrain problem and they have no idea what could be causing it so they are throwing in Chrysler lap on what to do. I asked them did you at least check the drivetrain, tranny , engine mounts and they said no. They also said that they didn’t have another one on the lot to compare to. I said you work on these all day , you need another to see if it clunks? So now I’m suppose to wait until they hear back from Chrysler. Problem today is there are so few true mechanics left around. Any and all suggestions welcome.Still love the car but super pissed. Liam , Sebastian Florida

    Contact Dodge Cares above ^^^

They actually contacted my Dealer and intervened.

You should not be expected to take that crap, especially on a NEW car with less than 100 miles.

I'd test drive one on their lot and see if it does it.
If is doesn't, tell them to give you THAT ONE

They didn’t have another 21 on the lot to compare but there is no way this is normal. Could be since this is a new model year, but the dealer could have at least checked the basics which I’m sure Chrysler is going to tell them to do. Anyway, they promised it will be resolved this coming week. The sales dept assured me if the can’t correct it they would replace the car. We’ll see. I’m just worried that they are going to hand me that phrase they love to use when they can’t fix something, it’s characteristic of the vehicle. No mechanics anymore, just robots. Thanks again to everyone. Bill

If you have the time, check the closest Dodge dealers inventory online to see if they have any 21 SXT's in stock. Then go there and start one up to confirm the issue is unique to your car.
