Here is a DIY tutorial on how to replace the EL sheet (Electroluminescent):

    Remove battery negative.
    Pull out start/stop button.
Slide away dash panel around start/stop button and remove screw.
Pull cluster panel (held only with springs).
The cluster is mounted with four screws.
    Remove three plugs.
Pull down the adjustable steering wheel as far as possible.
    Take out cluster.
With Torx #15 you can disassemble the cluster.
Check needle positions and remove needles (pull, or use fork).
    Remove dial sheet.
    Remove EL sheet.
    Mount new EL sheet.
If you want to keep the plugs on the sheets, you need to drill at least 10mm holes in the backing plate.
Let the wires come out on the top off the cluster (there is space enough in the dashboard).
Mount EL sheets, mount dial plate and reassemble the cluster.
Mount the inverter in the dashboard, behind the cluster.
