My ‘05 Monte Carlo “daily” spends a lot of time under an oak tree and occasionally would get ants in it. I put a Raid Ant Bait under each seat and the ants were gone in less than 24 hours.

Ant baits usually take 24 hrs. or a few days to be effective. The bait can be solid or liquid, and each type can be used for different applications. Solid ant bait is available in powder or granule form. Solid ant bait works well indoors or outdoors. It can also be applied in the path of trailing ants or placed directly on suspected nests. Solid ant bait that is used far from an ant’s nest requires foraging ants to carry it back to their nest before consumption and can often be more trouble for the ants than it’s worth.

Liquid ant bait is the best bait to use. Ants prefer a liquid to a solid because solid bait can’t be digested before transporting it back to the nest. Liquid ant bait allows for ants to ingest the bait and carry it back to the nest without having to process it further. That leaves them to immediately distribute it directly to the rest of the colony and the queen. Liquid ant bait will typically be more effective and provide the desired results more quickly than a comparable solid ant bait.

I use a Novistretch anytime I have to drive out of town in the summer. Probably the best $150 I ever spent.

Novistretch. What is that? Sounds like a ballistic-grade material like nylons for REALLY big girls.

Novistretch is a protective bra that fits over the front bumper and grill. I can see this being of benefit, in places like Florida, where you have lots of flying insects, especially swarms of lovebugs.

    It costs $154.

I wonder if the headlights of the HID's are powerful enough to just cover with the Novistretch and still give good enough light. They are 35W. I don't know if 35W of light filtered through the mesh would cause excessive heating.

Ugh, driving through swarms of bugs. Someone on the 'net commented on how few bugs they actually see compared to years ago, like something is killing them off.

Lovebugs become a major nuisance during two short periods of each year. Florida lovebugs, or March flies, emerge and mate en masse, once in the spring (April to May) and again in late summer (August to September). These pests came from Central and South America and range as far as North Carolina.

Everyone who lives in Florida drives around with bug shields during these months.

    The photos, below, are typical.

Wow, that bottom picture where people have their lights on during the day evidently due to the darkened skies.
