Then you'd want a centrifugal blower. They come with one. :D

Additionally, if you use a big enough centrifugal supercharger and put a slow-enough pulley on it, you can keep the torque curve at a manageable level for the entire powerband, and avoid having to have new driveline and transmission costs go through the roof.

The torque curve for each is the line that starts out higher than crosses over to lower than the hp line in each color.

Considering the less-than-wondrous exhaust port layout of the 3.6 (the only thing I don't like about the engine,) you could just slap a Procharger on it and then tune the pulley size to give you a torque curve that was fairly flat, so no sudden 900 RPM torque spike to break the stock driveline pieces.

The best any of them have is powdered rods. Powdered means "sintered" where the shape is made up of a pile of powdered version of the material, then fired to form the hardness. They do this with tungsten since it is so high in its melting point. They do it with steel because it is just much cheaper, but still stronger than cast rods.

If it says "forged" ask for receipts. That's aftermarket even-higher-strength rods it's talking about, and likely a forged crank too, instead of cast. You may also write into any sales contract that if the items are found to be non-forged, the contract is void.

Per allpar, the 6.1 SRT engine includes numerous modifications from the standard 5.7 Hemi, such as:

    • Reinforced bulkheads.
    • Larger cylinder bores, by 3.5 millimeters, honed with torque plates to ensure a truer bore.
    • Oil squirters, aimed at the underside of each piston, aided by a special oil pump pressure relief valve.
    • Modified oil pan and windage tray.
    • Larger-diameter, flat-top pistons with high-load capability.
    • Revised connecting rods using higher-strength powder metal material.
    • New floating piston pins.
    • Crankshaft forged from micro-alloy steel, in tri-metal main bearings, with retuned damper.
    • Head ports designed with larger cross-sectional area. This allows 11 percent higher flow in the intake ports, and 13 percent higher flow in the exhaust ports.
    • A billet steel, high-strength camshaft features more overlap and lift for better performance.
    • Intake valves feature hollow stems and 2 mm larger heads. The hollow exhaust valve stems are filled with sodium to dissipate heat.
    • Premium valve springs with external dampers enable higher engine speed operation to 6,400 rpm and allow the peak output engine speed to increase to 6,000 rpm from 5,000 rpm.
    • Specially designed intake and exhaust manifolds.
    • Cast aluminum intake manifold with shorter, larger-diameter and tapered runners for high-speed tuning. Internal
runners are core-dipped to smooth the runner finish and improve air flow.
    • 14% higher fuel injector flow capacity.
    • Higher-flow air cleaner box with a tuned resonator delivering a deep performance sound character (and good for an extra eight horsepower).
    • Exhaust headers are individual tubes encased in a stainless steel shell. Exhaust runners allow increased gas flow while maintaining fast catalyst light-off, while adding 12 horsepower over the 5.7-liter engine's cast manifolds.
    • Dual knock sensors with premium fuel.

    Great info, thanks.

Why is there no classified section in this forum lol? I would much rather buy a car from a forum member so the history is somewhat known.

Going to look at a 2010 SRT8 this weekend, wish me luck! It looks great from the photos and video that I have seen thus far. The only big thing missing can be added later, the 18 speaker sound package and amp. Heck, I don't even know if they were an option back then, or not until they switched from the 6.1 to 6.4.

If it checks out, and I can get a couple more grand out of them, I'll be in.

2008-2014 era Dodge Challengers came with a choice of three separate sound systems. The base Boston Acoustics stereo features a simple AM/FM radio with CD and MP3 capability and a total of four speakers (4 ohm impedance speakers) providing sound –a 6x9” located in each door and 6.5” speakers located above the rear seats.

Sound Group I (standard on SRTs) upgraded to a better 6-speaker, 2 ohm Boston Acoustics system with 3.5” tweeters in the front dash, a new head unit, and a 276-watt digital amplifier. A Sound Group II package, again a Boston Acoustics system, adds a central speaker to the dash and provides a total of 376-watts of digital amplification. The heavy hitting OEM sound system for this generation of Challengers comes in the form of a 13-speaker KICKER audio system. In addition to the same sized door (full range), rear seat (coaxial), and dash (coaxial) speakers as above, this SRT-trim audio system also adds a full sub in the trunk (with 200-watt amplifier) and uses a 322-watt digital amplifier to keep the tunes turned up.

2015-2018 generation Challengers saw a shift from Boston Acoustics to Alpine sourced stereo systems. The entry level system, listed as Six Premium Speakers on Dodge’s official feature and availability sheet, are the same sized 6x9” speakers in the door, 6.5” speakers in the rear seat shelf and two 3.5” tweeters up front. The tweeters and rear speakers are coaxial units. The next tier up, Sound Group, steps up to a higher line of Alpine speakers and integrated a 276-watt digital amplifier. Sound Group II adds another three speakers (for a total of nine) and ups the digital amp to 509-watts. Finally, the Premium Sound Group option packs a total of eighteen Harman Kardon high-performance speakers throughout the interior. Two 6x9 subwoofers reside in the doors, three midrange 90 mm speakers with 16 mm tweeter are placed along the dash, two in the ceiling, and three in the rear seat deck, and last but not least two 10” enclosed subs sit in the trunk. All in, 900 watts of amplified power produced using a class-D 11 channel amplifier.

Great info, thanks. This has the Group 1, but that is ok. For now anyway. I was wondering where in the world they put the 18 speakers in the later models.

I have the premium Sound Group 1 system in my 2009 SRT. It sounds great. You will be happy with it.
