2023 is the 15th year anniversary of the debut of the 2008 Challenger SRT. It is a testament to Dodge engineers and its marketing executives that over 400,000 Challengers have been built.
Let’s face it - it’s just a really cool car. In fact, it’s THE muscle car to have. Here’s an observation… my wife has a Jag, and I have a logon to the Jag forum. Like this one, they have smiley faces and other icons that you can imbed in your posts. There’s even one with the tag “:icon_musclecar:”. It looks like this: Hmmmm, what does that remind you of? See, even Jaguar people think the Challenger is the definition of muscle car!
That photo does emphasize that the new Challenger is about 20% bigger than the original. Thus the weight difference.
The Challenger is just a 2-door Dodge Charger with its wheelbase shortened by 3 inches. Also, it has a lot more structural safety built into it than its 1970 predecessor.
The decision to attack the Hemi etc. came from the exact same type of people who thought a braying transvestite lunatic would be the thing to do for Budweiser. However, across the world, instead of taking it when someone tried to rub their faces in some weirdo's AIDS-infected shit, people are abandoning Budweiser for life. Remember to never buy anything from Anheiser-Busch again, too they are the parent company. They want war? Give them war.
