Southern Motors has a beautiful 1969 Plymouth GTX for sale for $72,900.

It is a 440 cubic inch, 4-speed car, in triple black. The prior owner added a Holley six-pack.

That fender tag is more than faded. I have never seen pressed numbers and letters fade away from metal? There is no mention of a build sheet either. Would have liked to have seen the first four numbers and the first letter of the VIN though. It is a nice-looking car.

It's a little suspect. The third and fourth digits are 23, but that could be for a Satellite, Roadrunner or GTX. 5th character is L which would be a 440 HP engine. First two should be RS, but I can't tell in the video. It has a Satellite speedometer, but that may have been standard for the GTX.

You are right i totally missed the speedo, the 1969 GTX all came with a " 150 MPH speedo on all " the road runner came with the 120 MPH speedo, and it all changed on the 1970 , also 15" spoked road wheels " magnum 's some called them " mopar never used them. 14" inch only from 1967 and 1968 they were called chrome styled road wheels and in 1969 until the end they came with with a trim ring only but again 14" only with a brushed trim ring. in 1970 the new rallye road wheels were both made in 14" and 15" and as you know all rallye road wheels 14" & 15" came with trim rings polished in 1970 only and in 1971 on the rallye road wheels they were brushed trim rings all the way to mopar done away with them. the center cap were all argent silver and in 1971 they were black frosted and in 1972 they changed the center cap to like a square octagon and painted silver on the inside of cap and left that same style until the end of production, sorry for the wheel story a lot of people do not know..

Despite all of the inconsistencies, it is still a beautiful car- just not worth $72,900.

My brother had a 1968 Charger with the same wheels on that GTX (i.e., no trim ring).

mopar used the chrome styled wheels from 1967 through 1968 in other words no trim ring, 1967 through 1968 only in 14' now ford had the same wheel in both 15' and 14' which had a 5-4 -1/2 bolt pattern , the center caps were the same outside the decal in the cap and back in my day there were plentiful and the mopar guys would switch the center cap from ford to a mopar . "in 1969 until the end they came with with a trim ring again only in 14" only with a brushed trim ring." if your brothers car came with chrome styled road wheels from the factory they were 14" they would have been right like the picture , but they appear to look like 15' in the pic? do you know what size they were? the road wheels " magnum" were all made by kesley - hayes for gm and ford . hope that clears things up. have a great weekend.

My brother's car had 14" wheels. The one in the photo is not his. It is a virtual clone of his car.

Simple to pull the build sheet from between the foam and the zig-zag springs in the rear seat, where it was habitually located.
