I’m on vacation this week, so I went to Minneapolis and stopped at 17 different breweries in 2 days. Then yesterday drove from Minneapolis to Duluth, Minnesota and went to 6 more. Stopped at a casino on the way home and won $20, then an hour later I clipped a deer at 65 mph. I’m going to look into replacing my stock hood with a gloss black one. Any thoughts?

Looks like you will be replacing more than just a hood. Sorry to see the damage to such a nice Ride! Well at least you have a little deer/venison snack on the front wing. ;)

    Damn
Here in the NorthWest, we use .308 or 30/06 to hunt deer

Good thing you installed the Real Hoodpins.

All kidding aside, glad you weren’t hurt.

    That sucks!
We have way too many deer around. I had several close calls when I had a bike. Took one under a van I had which luckily did not damage...the deer not so well.
Hope you can get that beauty back in shape. Hard to say how the gloss black hood would look.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. In NJ and PA, we also have a big problem with deer.

If you are replacing your hood, why not consider a T/A hood? The matte black finish would look awesome on your gray Challenger.

Another, more expensive, option would be to install a shaker hood.

I hear there's different maintenance to the matte black finish and that you can't even take your car through an automatic car wash. Insurance would probably not let me upgrade either. Do all Challenger hoods fit all cars?

It's a shame you had a run in with a deer. They're an issue here in northest Ohio too. It could have been a lot worse. You just had to show the deer guts in the photo, didn't you. :)
If you want to change it up, the T/A or Shaker would look good. I bet you could source one for the same money as a OEM SXT/RT hood. Paint it body color? If you want black, just have it clear coated with a satin clear paint.

Think the Shaker would take major mods to fit and work right on the V6.

    Yep,
    https://www.challengertalk.com/threads/shaker-hood-on-v6.370818/

but sounds like "AFR sells a V6 shaker kit"
That would really freak people out :)

I'm really not interested in "up-badging". I'll see if I can get the regular hood in gloss black. I don't really like the idea of a glossy car except the hood.

I commend you on your refusal to upbadge. But why not install a T/A hood with a 3.6L emblem? It would be very unique.
