In the December 2024 issue of Motor Trend a 2023 Challenger Shakedown was compared to a 2024 Mustang GT.

As expected, they rated the more modern 5.0 Mustang (486 hp.) over the 6.4 Challenger (485 hp.) for its superior handling, braking and modern interior. Their verdict- "The Mustang is unquestionably the better car, but the Challenger will be the one that got away."

    Here are some key quotes:

" The Dodge is a throwback to a rapidly fading era. It proudly flies the muscle car flag not just for yesterday's Charger and Challenger, but also for the GTO, Chevelle Fairlane and all the other fallen greats."

"From the moment you hear its pushrod V-8 settle into that lopey idle, you're smiling. The car (Challenger) just oozes charm."

"Ford's Coyote V-8 feels almost exotic in comparison."

"Driving the Dodge in anger on a mountain road is certainly a challenge."

"The Mustang GT, on the other hand, feels like a product off the 21st century. Modern, tech-forward, yet still delightfully anachronistic in its choice of powerplant...Comparing the two interiors is like comparing two eras in automaking."

    Here are the performance specs:

    Challenger- 0-60 mph= 4.0 sec., 1/4 mile= 12.5 [email protected], braking 60-0 mph= 102 ft.

    Mustang- 0-60 mph= 4.3 sec., 1/4 mile= 12.5 [email protected] mph, braking 60-0 mph= 99 ft.

Opinions are like " everyone has one." Who gives a ___ what Motor Trend says. I am a leader not a follower!
