Florida has a pretty good network of oil recycling places. And most auto parts stores and Walmarts accept used oil. Here’s a link with more info: https://floridadep.gov/waste/permitting-compliance-assistance/content/used-oil-recycling Also, I’ve heard that it’s a law in FL that if you sell motor oil, you have to accept used oil for recycling. I haven’t been able to verify that, but there’s enough places around where you can take your drain oil that there’s really no excuse for not disposing of it properly.
Didn't read the article but I once had an oil company rep tell me it's good for up to 5 years. I change every 3000 miles because my car is supercharged, so I'll never find out.
