How many drag strips have closed because of neighbor complaints about noise?

Well, the Kanas City House of Representatives is the latest body to pass a bill aimed at protecting long‑standing race tracks from nuisance‑based lawsuits filed by nearby property owners who moved into the area after the tracks were established. House Bill 2416, named the Kansas Motorsports Venue Protection Act, was passed with a unanimous vote on February 12 and now moves to a Kansas senate transportation committee hearing scheduled for February 26.

This is the eleventh such bill to be introduced to state legislatures across the country, each of which is part of SEMA’s “Right to Race” push that seeks to protect existing racetracks and motorsports facilities from lawsuits and other legal proceedings stemming from new landowners of track-adjacent properties. The protections in the Kansas bill are clearly outlined and reach further than one might expect, putting a five-mile radius of safety from nuisance-based cases. Essentially, it grandfathers in the tracks and prevents any new land owners, or land owners who make “constructed improvements” on neighboring parcels, from filing suits, though the bill does make clear that this is not protection from civil cases.

This is a positive move for established tracks and motorsports venues, as it will hopefully help slow the number of lawsuits from neighbors who moved in after the track was established and then seek to limit operations or shut down the venue entirely. The list of states with current pending legislation can be found on SEMA’s website, and if your state is not currently included, consider contacting your legislators to encourage them in joining the movement.

That's a good thing. I think that's the reason Bandimere Speedway near Denver, CO shutdown.

We had two shut down in New Jersey- Atco Dragway and Englishtown Raceway.

Maybe all electric vehicle race would appease the neighbors. (Of course, Charger EVs with Fratzonic exhaust sounds would not be allowed)!

Assholes move in and then knowingley complain about it. When in the first place they shouldn't have move to the location in the first place. But once they get some other home owners to go against they will.

Yeah, it’s like the people who buy a house next to the airport and then complain about the noise. You knew the airport was there, dumb ass! Why’d you buy the house? :badidea:

About 6 miles away from my house is a closed landfill. New houses were constructed across the road from hit. The buyers weren't told anything about it and assumed that it was a large grass-covered hill. Of course, when they discovered the truth, they were very upset and realized that it negatively affected the resale value of their properties.
