I took my 2014 Challenger to the dealership because the A/C was blowing lukewarm air on the passenger side and cool air on the driver's side. They told me that I needed a new evaporator core and that it would cost roughly $3000 to have it fixed.
Is this a common problem with Challengers?

not that I know of, mine is a 2009 and still good, but I do have an extended warranty on mine to take care of those things.

I'm not sure how a bad evaporator would cause only some of of the vents to blow warm air but it seems you have freon leak somewhere. A/C repairs aren't cheap, but for $3,000, I'd get a second opinion either from a reputable shop that specializes in A/C repairs or from another dealer.
In the future you may want to check out a MOPAR protection plan. I just bought an 8 year plan yesterday from my dealer that'll cover my 2015 until Aug 2024. Check out https://www.chryslerwarrantys.com to get an idea of pricing... just a thought.

    Totally agree,
also bought an 5-year 120k mile extended warranty on my 2010 for the same reason:
    Replace a $300 evaporator for $3000,
I am in the wrong business :emotions133:

Thanks, I will look into the extended warranty and getting a second opinion.

Can you buy these warrantys at any time on a vehicle, and is it like health insurance....the older you are the more you pay $$$$

Yes, but if the car is already out of factory warranty when you buy the contract I’m not sure if there is something in the terms to exclude coverage of “pre-existing conditions”.
Mine is still under warranty when I purchased yesterday.

You can buy warranties on line. Although pre-existing conditions are not covered, how would they know? After the required waiting period, you could have it repaired.
