Racer X compared the 0-60 mph times of the 3.6L Challenger GT and the 5.7 R/T. As expected, despite the 4 wheel drive of the GT, the 70 hp advantage of the R/T produced quicker runs. The R/Ts best was 5.7 sec. as compared to the 6.5 sec. of the GT.
No surprises there. AWD is only a benefit when traction is limited. The V6 Challenger is certainly NOT traction limited. So, the AWD V6 Challenger is only hindered by the AWD system. Excess weight and parasitic loss only serve to slow the car down.
Would be nice to see the comparisons in rain with the awd and the r/t using the same tires to see if the awd is better under a normal end users driving. I know my scat can get downright scary in the rain but thats usually due to wheelspin not lateral grip. These cars do surprisingly well in the rain when compared to say the 2000 mustang gt I had before. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
What would be interesting is a drag race between the two V6 cars. My guess is the RWD car will beat the AWD car pretty easily.
