Following the departure of former CEO Carlos Tavares and shifting political influences, Stellantis seems to have reversed its plans. Mopar Insiders is reporting that it is targeting an August production start for the entire HEMI engine family (other than the 6.4-liter “Big Gas Engine” that is found in the Ram Heavy Duty).

If this is true, it is exciting news. Now, we have to wait to see what models, other than pick-up trucks, that will get the HEMI engine. I would love to see the 6.4 in the new Charger. Also, how about a twin-turbo 5.7?

The 5.7 will remain naturally aspirated cause the platform can't handle much boost and it would be cost prohibitive to change that. I don't find the new Charger appealing enough to look at to care whether it has a powerful gas engine in it but there seems to be a market for everything.

I wish the past 392 hemis would have had a bit more hemi orange paint on the engine. It appears it's only the block.

Most of it is alloy, you could paint it yourself. By the time they put on the fake valve covers etc. You don't see much of the engine anyways.

I read that they painted the block to differentiate it from the 5.7s on the assembly line. My 6.1's block is also painted orange. As a cool factor, they used the same HEMI orange color from the 60s/70s.

X2 on the orange block on mine as well, at least the little bit I can see.

Report: Hemi Is (Possibly) Back on the Menu - Hagerty Media

Here is a key excerpt from the article:

"While former Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis in 2024 ruled out the chances of a V-8 or the Hellcat motor finding its way underneath the hood of the new Charger, perhaps with Tavares out of the picture, those plans are shifting. One can only hope that we’d be lucky enough to get not only the Hemi back in the new Charger but also the Hellcat—and maybe even a mega-displacement version of the engine as well."

I know some of you guys don't like Racer X, but, in this video, he has some good information. Start at the 1:50 minute mark.
