I lost interest when they started using restricter plates. All that effort to make the car go faster, then you do something to slow it down. Isn't that what brakes are for?
Actually, I’m kinda interested to see how EV racing is going to play out. The cars will have a different torque profile, so they’re gonna respond differently and handle differently, so it will be interesting to see how the drivers adjust to that. Let’s face it, the future is coming whether we like it or not. So I wanna see it before I pull the flush lever. However… I hope they don’t try to add engine sounds. That’s just piling on fake crap that’s not needed. If you’re gonna race electric cars, let ‘em sound the way they sound. Besides, drivers and mechanics learn a car’s natural sounds and can tell when something’s wrong. How you gonna do that when some artificial speaker is blasting phony engine noises? Or maybe… like B5blueRT suggested… they play ELO???
First it'll be EV racing. Next NASCAR will just put a bunch of Teslas on the track, hit the "auto" button and let them whip around the track without drivers. You know, "out of an abundance of caution for driver safety". LOL
Wait!… I know… It’ll be like those table top football games we had when we were kids. You know, ya set up all the little guys, hit the switch, the board vibrates, and they all move around, you have no idea where the f**k they’re going. Yeah, the race will be kinda like that with wicked impressive tackles! (Crashes)! I bet that catches on big-time. Like robo-wars.
That is sick! I can’t believe someone can control those things that well. I’ve played with ones my son had and it’s not easy, I usually just wiped out and it was over.
What the assigned overlords of the West have in common is a desire to detach people from things that are masculine and fun, because in places where such things happen, they can't control the conversations and plans. They don't like Disapproved Ideas. Disapproved ideas get discussed by real men who have real female human wives and real human children who they aren't turning over to the Politburo for reprogramming. Hot rodding, meeting in public or private, discussing things without someone complaining, having guns, living off-grid, brewing your own methanol by just cooking wood, etc. These are all things that sound like fun and freedom. Which is one reason I resist the whole electric vehicle thing. Have you noticed the crowd who are all holding hands and chanting in unison how GREAT it is? No one who does not stand to profit from it. We don't NEED their NASCAR, NHRA, or, really, any formal external organization. We'll take gasoline, diesel, pistons, cars we can work on without Elon Musk's approval, and cars who actually don't ram into a convention center at 100mph. Cars that can't be shut off remotely by someone who Disapproves. Also, not having a Youtube channel or a billion mindless followers on whatever social media is not an indication of a lack of quality. Some clubs are better for who is NOT in them. Nah, the gasoline cars will be around a lot longer than those who are working to destroy them. The "solution" to gas prices artificially inflated is not to buy a $100,000 electric car so you can save 20k bucks over the car's life in gas prices over your 1000 dollar car. Nah, I'll take a V6 Challenger over Christine the Electric Car with a mind of her own any day. Hot rodding and fast cars that burn fuel and make beautiful sounds are going to be here in spite of the latest salvos being launched by those bent on hamstringing the FUN. I don't want a car that can decide by itself to celebrate Elon Musk's birthday by mowing down pedestrians, crashing into a convention center, then bursting into flames to hide the evidence. I don't need a car that can self-drive itself away from my garage when I'm five minutes late on a payment. Neither does anyone else. The electric car is here. Freedom to not choose it is ALSO here. The Dodge Challenger is the greatest American muscle car success story in history.
