1970 Dodge Challenger Standard. 340, Manual. In the process of starting the restoration. Original Sublime Green. I don't have an Engine yet, or rear end for it. I have some of the interior intact, but it is going to be a project. Any help on the best place to buy body panels, a hood, and the engine and transmission. Not sure that I want to pay for a crate 340, what is everybody's preference on other engines? 383, maybe a 440? Would like some good resto ideas. Thank you

Welcome to the forum. Good luck with your restoration project. Since it's not a numbers matching car, you can't go wrong with any of the three engine choices, it all depends on what you want to the car to be when its done. A fairly stock looking tribute or "day two"? A resto-mod with aftermarket suspension, brakes, etc.? It it were me and I could afford it based on the rebuild budget, I'd go for a crate engine. You know it's going to work, no second guessing if a rebuilt one was done correctly plus there's a warranty. Just my opinion.
    Have fun with it!

If it was mine, I would be trying to put a modern drivetrain in it - fuel injected V-8 hemi with a 6-spd manual. For the rear end, the dana 60 from a b-body or e-body should bolt right in. The 8-3/4" rear end from the same vehicles would also work. Modern suspension and brakes would be a great improvement, but would not be bolt-in, unless you can find a kit.

Welcome to the forum, the body looks fair from this angle of pic. but not to discourage you i am into old cars too unless you have very deep pockets i think you would be better off buying a old challenger pretty close to being done or done. and be money a head since you do not have anymore parts than mentioned or less you are a body man that would be a great savings also? unless its some kind of rare challenger besides being lime green? as far as drive train , i do not know how available the 5.2L = 318 cui or the 5.9L magnum = 360 cui engines and trans are today from a 90's dodge truck are where you are located? there are several ways to go with that combo. there is a website moparts.com that is primary old mopar's you could go on look around. or contact Indy cylinder 937-708-8563 they have accessories and complete engines and there is jasper engines and transmissions also but you probably will have to have a core with them ... good luck...hope this helps.
