Sometimes, I read about guys questioning how much oil to add during changes. The owner's manual states to warm up the engine for 5 minutes before you drain the old oil and to add 7 quarts (with a new filter). Reportably, some owners state that when they add 7 quarts, the dipstick indicates a slight overfill. The SRT engineers were asked about this issue and they stated that the "overfill" indication is caused by a slight bend in the dipstick tube that allows some excess oil to get trapped when the dipstick is put in. Even when you drain the oil properly and refill with 7qts., it will always reflect more on the stick, because of the bend in the tube. They said not to worry, 7qts. is what the pan and engine are tested and designed for.
Starting with replacing the amount that I've drained avoids over filling and has been good practice for the BMW's as they don't have a dipstick.
Sounds like people that should not own a car, if you look up the definition of Anal, there's their picture. ANYONE that has a problem changing their oil, go have it done!!!!!!!!!
