What's everyone's take on such devices to protect our cars?

I got the Tazer first thing, I could leave the doors unlocked, and fob on the seat, and it's not going no where. It kills the gas pedal, locks up all 4 ABS, light show, and horn blares as options. They can't even hijack it, unless the fob is in the car. Plus you can turn off eco mode, and have your drive modes stay the same, with pressing buttons each time you start it.

I was almost thinking of getting a hollow fob and leaving it in the center console as a joke.

When I lived in Australia, I had a diesel Jeep Cherokee that had an engine immobilizer installed by Jeep. I think it was a government requirement there to reduce car theft. It required that I push a fob button in order to start it. If I did not push the button, the engine would run for a few seconds and then shut off. I got very nervous, that if for some reason that fob failed (I kept an extra fob battery with me for that reason), I would be stuck, possibly many miles from civilization. At some point, it did not make sense when weighing the risk of theft (value of the car) vs. the cost of anxiety or cost of being stranded. The Cherokee was over 10 years old and it did not make sense to me to protect it at that level.

An owner should also consider whether or not the car is parked in a high-risk area. Currently, I live in a nice neighborhood and generally do not keep anything of value in my vehicles. They are insured and I'm not particularly concerned that if stolen, I will suffer a huge setback. If I owned a Hellcat, I would definitely want to have some level of protection such as Sexy Blue described.

I have the old school Ravelco immobilizing anti-theft device on my 2009 SRT. It is impervious to modern theft scanning techniques. It is installed in an easily accessible place beneath or flush mounted in the dashboard of your car. A removable 16-pin male plug makes all the electronic connections. A hidden armored steel cable protects the wires from the rear of the RAVELCO base on through to the engine compartment where all the connections are made and camouflaged. When the plug is removed from the RAVELCO, it is impossible to start the vehicle. There are more than 100,000 different combinations. NO MASTER PLUGS.

Since 1976, Ravelco has sold more than 5 million units without ever having a vehicle stolen by defeating a properly installed and utilized Ravelco.

    Highly recommended.

The REMOTE START SYSTEM that comes standard with your vehicle is a very nice and convenient option to have, but only if you happen to live in an area which has "0" Zero auto theft. But, in any city that has its fair share of crime, please understand that with your remote start you are making it EASIER for a thief to steal your vehicle. Thieves now use electronic scanners or notebooks to unlock your vehicle and disable any type alarm or security you may have. If you have the remote start option on your vehicle the thief can also now start and steal your vehicle.

ANSWER: Yes, your REMOTE START will still work with a Ravelco Anti Theft Device installed in your vehicle, BUT, you will have to leave the plug in the RAVELCO unit, thus defeating any security you have whatsoever.

My system is only $300, and just not having to choose drive modes every time I start it, is worth it for that alone.
