    Hey guys,

I am considering buying a 2012 Challenger SXT Plus with 32k miles and it is a western car (so it’s never touched salt). The one thing holding me back is the dash cluster.

The reason why this is a problem for me is because when I was a kid my dad used to be fairly abusive. He always drove newer dodge vehicles. So many times he would yell, scream, hit, or just berate you in that vehicle. So many times I remember being berated and staring at that white, green, and red cluster gauge. I would look at that awful green clock as well. I hated the colors of dodge interiors since.

I feel like I would be stupid not to buy this Challenger. I have been looking at other SXT’s with the 2015 gauges and like how they look. But this Challenger has the right color, right model, right miles.

Can I swap out that nasty green instrument cluster for the updated 2015 one? How much would it set me back, and who could do it? Should I just suck it up and buy the 2015 version?

    Thanks for listening

Man, sorry to hear that and can definitely relate. I think you should buy it and keep it just as is as a big F YOU! to your father for not letting him ruin something you really love and enjoy!

It was no cake walk for most of us being raise by depression era parents. I just carry on. My dad never prevented me from getting what I wanted. And the Big F you is all the more reason to get it.

OTOH, it only made us stronger as we carried on through life, and we don't whine about minor stuff.

I have seen posts on other forums about replacing the instrument gauge backgrounds. I'll poke around and see if I can find it.
