I drove from Minnesota to Kansas about 3 weeks ago. Today I got a letter in the mail stating that I was caught on camera doing 61 in a 50 mile per hour zone in Iowa somewhere. $100. Not bad, considering I have had my car for over a year and that’s the only time they got the Hopslayermobile.

I wonder if your home state of Minnesota would force you to pay the fine?

I don’t know what would happen if I simply refused to pay it. They did have 3 very nice pictures of my car, especially the license plate. I’d gladly accept not being allowed in Iowa ever again, but the wife is already writing out the check.

Certain states- not all- have agreements with other states over moving violations. For example, in NJ, if you get cited for a violation that carries points, you automatically get 2 points on your NJ driving record.

I know this because I got cited in New York state and had to hire an attorney to get it downgraded to a non-moving violation.

What's the chances though you'll actually get pulled over for it? You'd have to take it off for a state inspection if you are in one of those states.

8 yrs no tickets. Stopped once, got a ⚠️ warning. Guess I’m not driving fast enough. I did live in the country, not as many troopers out there.
