For 2020, Toyota is introducing the Intelligent Manual Transmission (IMT). The system automatically increases the engine revs when downshifting ensuring a smooth gear shift. The system also works when shifting up in order to improve comfort for driver and passengers by reducing clutch shock. It is available in Toyota C-HR with 1.2T engine and manual gearbox.

This would seem like a good idea for someone learning a manual.

    Here is a short video.

Can we just leave the manual transmission alone and let the driver have the enjoyment of actually driving the vehicle???

Agree. This Toyota piece should be called a "manumatic"!

Didn't Nissan do this in the 350/370Z like ten years ago?
