Found this on a BMW sight I frequent. Interesting stuff. At an even greater disadvantage in a turbo charged manual as boost falls off to nothing between shifts.

    Good Video, and well Said.

But Auto are still cheating when it come to drag racing.
If you can't lose a race because you missed a shift, where is the challenge?

    Might as drive a Tesla.

Good info. Thanks for posting. The topic certainly comes up often at cruise-ins and shows so I feel more informed now. MPG concerns raises it's ugly head again.
As I get older I find shifting a bit more tiring, especially here in the mountains with constant inclines. I still have a 5 speed manual in my Mustang but glad to have automatics in my Pontiac & Dodge. It's nice to have choices based on how I'm feeling that day.
I would feel really bad never shifting again (I've always had a manual car in my garage it seems) so I plan on keeping the GT as long as possible. I always had automatics in my Mopars in my early years so I feel right at home in my R/T.

The Powerglide and Torque Flights were and are used in drag racing positive shift.
