Hi all, my 71 R/T at some point in its life was backed up with the driver door open and had the bottom of the door put into an unmovable object. A repair was done, but not correctly and there is no way it will ever get fixed correctly without major bucks.

I got a rust free door from a 1970 that's in great shape, but missing the glass and some other parts. I am trying to figure out if a 1970 door uses all the same hardware as 71 and later. If it does I can swap all my 71 parts into the 1970 door and I'm GTG.

At one point I thought everything was the same, but the more I research it the less sure I am. Anyone ever do this swap?

    Thanks

Doors from any first gen Challenger will fit any other first gen Challenger. The bodies did not change from 1970 thru 1974, only the grill and tail sections.

As far as door glass and internals, any E-body will work, Challenger or 'Cuda, 1970 thru 1974

That's correct and it only stands to reason. Why would Chrysler Corp. make different parts for virtually identical cars? It would not be economical to do this.

Thanks for the info, it's what I suspected but I have to be sure. What I am finding is some parts are for 70-71, others are for 71-74 and very few are 71 specific.

If you haven't already, get a Mopar Collectors Guide. I have a subscription and there are some great ads for suppliers. I wish I had that info when I had my 72. There were a few parts I could not find anywhere. Now I can. What a difference 5 years makes.

Thanks for the tip. I actually have a few of these from many years ago but I thought they went out of business. I have their site bookmarked and will look at subscribing.
