Did you know that 40 of 50 states have window tint laws?

How many of you guys have tinted windows?

Here is a chart that illustrates how these laws vary from state-to-state. At the extremes are Michigan- no restrictions and New Jersey, Vermont and New Hampshire- not allowed (extremely limited).

Window Tinting Laws in All 50 States | instamotor

The percentage of light that a window tint film allows to pass through your car windows is called the VLT (Visible Light Transmission), and each state has different legal allowable VLT limits. The tint applied by car manufacturers at the factory must allow at least 70% of visible light through.

NJ window tint laws are very restrictive. They only allow the following for passenger vehicles. If you don't adhere to these restrictions, you will be pulled over by the police.
    • Front Windshield: It is ILLEGAL to tint this window
    • Front seat side windows: It is ILLEGAL to tint this window
    • Back seat side windows: Any tint darkness can be used
    • Rear window: Any tint darkness can be used
These laws are for everyone's protection. While very dark tint looks cool, anything below 30% severely impairs a driver's night vision. Look at the tint image, below.

5% on rear window is great at night if you have sensitive eyes to people that drive with those extra bright lights or high beams on.

We got by for five years before the tint had to come off. Corvettes are targeted by authorities judging by seeing all other cars around here that have blacked out windows with a white painted body that certainly stand out that don't get cited.

I have LIMO Tint on the Passenger Windows
Rear and sides windows are 25%
Was going to do 35% on the Drivers Window, but the Window Tinter talked me into 25%
He just said Roll down both windows when you get puller over
(He didn't even start to say "IF you get pulled over")

    And I STILL wear Sunglasses.
