An owner of a 2012 Challenger SRT 392, with 90,647 miles, was faced with a major wiring problem. The Check Engine light was on because of frayed and severed electrical wiring. The cause? Mice! They had chewed everything they could find- the insulation under the hood, wires, harnesses, hoses, and even the foam insulation under the intake. A mechanic checked everything and found that on the backside of a connector, a blue and a grayish-brown wire was split in half by tiny mouse teeth. That was the reason for the Check Engine light. Fortunately, with the replacement of the affected wiring, the 392 is running like new. (20) Owner Takes His Dodge With the "Check Engine" Light On to a Mechanic, Gets the Bad News - autoevolution
Let me let a little secret out, my shop has replaced a lot of mice chewed wires and also dog chewed wires too over the years , if you have full coverage insurance, the insurance will take care of it. at least "state farm" will. my most resent rewire was a couple of years ago where a mouse was very hungry on a dodge neon from the front to the fuel pump. the cost just about totaled the car to repair. (keep this in mind)
