For those of you guys who have taken your Challengers to the track, how do you launch? Do you have ESP fully disabled, partially disabled, or on. I would guess you need to keep ESP fully engaged unless you have slicks and can do a burnout. Also, at what rpm do you launch?
I have the Predator, so I put it in dyno mode and change tire size for my drag setup. I do a moderate burnout, then roll through the burnout in second gear and let off. When you hear the chirp as tractlon is restored, tires are ready. Since my torque converter is stock, I don't try to stall however I wait until the last yellow to launch. I have my shift points raised to 6400 and I let the car auto shift, going through the traps around 6200 in 3rd.
It was cold today and Hemis like freezing temperatures, so I decided to do a 0-60 mph run. Well, my RSA tires were cold and they went up in smoke. I only managed a 5.8 sec. run with traction control on. Smoking tires look impressive, but you aren't going anywhere!
With my street tires dropped to 26psi. ESP partially off (R/T) moderate burnout to warm up the rubber, launch at about 700 rpm in auto stick, shift point set at 6200 and firmness increased ( Trinity 91 canned tune). Best was a 1.992, 60ft with a 13.345 @ 103.8 mph. Elevation at the track is about 2600ft. Can hardly wait till next trip to Seattle to see what it will do in good air.
Shallow stage, brake torque at 1000rpm, leave on the third yellow.Roll into the throttle. Took me about 30 passes to get my 60 ft from 2.4 to 2.00.Stock RSA's.I don't spin so whether esp is on or off doesn't seem to effect my times.Works great at the track, on prepped blacktop, not so good on concrete.
