Spring is coming and I'm officially on the hunt for a Challenger. I've mainly been looking at '15 / '16 Scat Packs and drove a couple today. Neither of the dealers I went to had R/Ts. When I asked the salesmen to back up their statements that "the Scat Pack is significantly better," I basically got the car lot equivalent of, "because I said so." My real question is if the additional power and handling is that significant that it warrants the extra when it comes to the price tag. Any opinions? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Scat Pack has the 485 hp 6.4 engine that was exclusively available in the expensive SRT. The engine in the standard R/T is the 375 hp 5.7 engine. It all depends on how fast you want to go. For most owners, the 5.7 is more than adequate for street use. In the quarter mile, however, the 6.4 will be at least 1 second or more faster. This equates to over a 10 car length advantage. If I were buying a Challenger, I would buy a Scat Pack. It is, by far, a real performance bargain. You should drive both models before you decide. I think that the 6.4's 110 hp difference will convince you! 2017 Dodge Challenger - Performance Features
I drove both this week. The Scat Pack was a whole different animal. I'm sold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The scat pack gives you a lot of bang for your buck. I’ve never driven any other model. I have a friend that has the automatic, I went for a ride and was sold. As soon as I got back home I was talking to my wife about it. Next day she went grocery shopping so she said. Long story she bought me my car. I’ve had a blast taking it on vacation from Vegas to Yosemite. I ripped through central California’s mountains like butter. On supper bowl Sunday I ducked a cop and hit 158mph not even trying. The suspension is fantastic, I’m not a fan of the body roll. I could fix it, if I cared that much. I have Brembo’s on my car my friends scat pack dose not and you can tell the difference in stopping power. The 6.4 is a rip to drive you have good amount of power to get in trouble with. I like my stick shift it makes the whole driving experience so much more enjoyable for me. But it’s not for everyone, from the factory they suck. You have to do some tweaks and spend a few bucks to get the most out of a 6 speed. The best quote I’ve heard in regards to the scat pack is that it’s a half priced hell cat with a lot of bang. My dislike list is short. The tiny shift light in the gauge cluster. Needs a real light. The body roll. The skip shift and shifter. The CDV is a joke! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
sorry, but I wont buy a hellcat or a demon, don't need one, and don't really want one..... best buy for you buck is a scat pack 392 plus a shaker if you want one. a nice one is about 50k. plus for another 7grand you can put a blower on it and get a tune and run with the big boys if you like. but at 50k i will keep my 2009 Rt 5.7 that is paid for and be happy.
They sell for well under sticker these days. My scat is loaded, and I got $9300 off sticker when I purchased. $40k is what you need to get into an optioned out 392, more like $33k-35k into a more base 392 car.
again even at that price I would still be looking at payments of around 500 or so, cant do that anymore with 2 vehicles now over that range. also insurance on it around where I live would be sky high too, so regardless. I am happy with my 8 year old RT. that is paid for and still have fun driving it.
