Ok who here cleans/details their engine bay routinely and what safe proven products do you use? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I pressure wash the plastic parts, then spray down with a degreaser. I sometimes spray the hoses and plastic with a tire shine. I will share pics the next time I do clean it.
About once a month I'll rinse everything, wipe the painted portions with a sponge and soap, rinse again, then spray abundantly with tire shine and close the hood.
I've seen some folks use Purple Power cleaner/degreaser. Hear it's pretty strong stuff. Mostly used for the really dirty stuff. Anyone have experience? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
GUNK Multi-Surface Degreaser for the dust/grime and GUNK Finishing Shine to finish up the beauty. < Yes, this is dry! How I do it with this brand (also how it states on the can): Apply Degreaser thoroughly all over the engine bay (yes even the wires, coil packs, etc.. I did however cover my CAI filter- my personal preference) leaving sit for 10 mins Once time has passed, set garden hose on a wide spraying setting, but only gently press the trigger. You just want it to wash off the degreaser fully and get the crud off but not overly-saturate everything *Optional*- Take blower and blow off some of the water on the electrical parts just to be safe! Finally, start up the engine and let run for 10-15mins to dry the rest of the water, apply your Finishing Shine and you'll have a great looking engine in no time! Total time taken (without having to cool engine down after driving to get the spray)- approx. 45 mins or so if needing to scrub some spots. The pair only costs about $13 and I could probably get 6+ uses from them.
Thanks, not really a fan with how messy it looks (wires and such) without the engine cover on the 5.7, but I like seeing my motor! I'm by no means the best detailer, especially for engine bays, but I was pretty proud of the way it turned out even without all of the dress-up most people do to theirs.
