I have heard that some Challenger owners have encountered a problem with the rubber hood seal.

If you need to replace it and you are out of warranty, do it yourself. The seal costs $30 and you can get the 11 plastic rivets that hold it in place, from Harbor Freight, for only a few dollars for a box of 20.

Don't buy them from the dealer. You will be charged $63 ($5.75 each)!

What's a good link to those rivets on Harbor Freight? I just had mine replaced under warranty, but would assume it will once again separate.

    As always, thanks Tom!

Neat alternative fix: Bought stainless steel screws at the hardware store (14 : 3/4). Fit perfectly and for only $1.09 for 2 screws x 6 bags. They look great and screw into the holes perfectly. Can use over and over again. Can paint black too if you want. A great looking alternative; I am very happy with how it turned out.

What are the actual size and dimentions of the replacement rivets. My dealership wanted $3.20 ($38.40 for bag of 12). I saw some on ebay(part # 6500898) and ordered some but they seemed not to fit. Also I went to Harbor Freight web sit and saw the sell a multi sized box of rivets. 2 size seemed to be the right size ( 5mm x 17.2mm and 5mm x 15.8mm) Do any of these two rivets fit?

you can go to harbor freight and the the assorted pack of rivets, that is way cheaper than what the dealer wants. I keep a box of the assorted in my tool box for jobs like this. they also have the rivet tool to use.

That's crazy, didn't know this has been an issue for that long. Ours starting cracking and separating after about a year.

yeah, when mine was my daily driver I had to replace a a couple of time within a few years, but now, its very seldom as I only put abut 5,000 miles a year on it.
