yeah the last recall mine went through was for the inflater behind the glove box, took that tech about 30 minutes to replace mine.

I have a 2013 Dodge Challenger SXT Plus. When I brought in the vehicle for an oil change, service notified me of the recall, "Passenger Side" 'Air Bag'. Time to replace given me was one hour thirty minutes. I believe the 'propellant' must be replaced only. You may correct me if I'm wrong. However, this is a new recall being released. I was 'not' notified, rather the dealer made mention of the fact. I only have one mechanic work on my car from Tasca. In fact, Bobby Tasca races the funny cars. How well he is doing is unknown to me.

Seeing that it is an extensive process as to: remove the dash panel, instrument cluster, header panel, radio, console and more, I decided along with the technician to "not" perform the recall at this time. He has not performed this recall on any vehicle as yet, "I was the first". He knows how meticulous I am with the car, so he brought this to my attention. I made mention to him to notify me when he does the first work of recall 'U03", then maybe, maybe I'll move forward. This facet is only contingent upon a crash. Hopefully, I will not be 'crashing' anything.

This is one of the reasons I'll never purchase another vehicle, ever. Many are not pleased in the way FCA is heading as I have been mislead at the outset, irrespective of doing yeomen's work research on the Challenger. Why the driver side airbag is unaffected only leads me to believe that they are different components, or different propellant. I'll discuss this with my technician when the next oil change is due. It stands to reason for the right side heads or cylinders are made in China and the left in Brazil OR vice-versa. Still cannot believe how I've been duped in this area. I know the process on removing the dash in totality for I was a radio technician some years back. The cars were pretty much straight forward, working sometimes from the Auto Manuals. Today is a different story. Electronics encompass the entire vehicle. I was used as a technical trouble shooter to repair or find all the errors the previous techs left behind. I found no difficulty rarely and enjoyed the work.

Tell me who can replace the air bag in your vehicle in thirty minutes?

i dont know what air bag device you have to remove, but for the passenger side all my tech had to do was remove the glove box and the inflater was behind it. no dash panels or anything like that had to be removed. the other inflater is in the bag itself in the steering wheel. and that was a easy replace for them as well.

Thank you very much. I know not much about air bags or the process thereof but if it were the time allotted as yours, I would certainly perform the recall. What type vehicle do you have? That is a far cry 30 minutes as opposed to 1 hour thirty minutes. The tech described in detail the process as we talked for a while. As mentioned in the previous response, it is quite complicated in removing or dismantling many parts. Again, Ill wait for him to perform the recall on another Challenger before I may correct the problem.

the books tend to swell the time allotted at times, I stood right next to my car when they replaced the inflator on mine, barely had time to drink a cup of coffee. the tech had the glove box out and just a couple of minutes, the inflater took a few more getting it out and then putting it back in. the wheel bag was in the cover and all they had to do was take it off and replace. mine is a 2009 RT. listed in my sig and also my avatar pic.
