There have been numerous discussions regarding battery questions or of longevity. I purchased a new 2013 Dodge Challenger. Mileage is 1679. During the five (5) years, I have started the vehicle every two (2) weeks at idle (parked) for twenty (20) minutes. Every six (6) months, I schedule the vehicle to be serviced for an oil change. Trip mileage is about ninety (90) miles.

There have been no issues at all in terms of battery failure and 'no' battery tender or charger is ever used. Each and every time the car starts with no hesitation, none. Any and all input regarding the aforesaid is appreciated. Please post your thoughts or direction relating to the process I have undertaken. This has been a research test on my part, yet to be challenged.

    ;)

What do you think of my battery lasting five years as to the initial process I made mention? Interstate is known as a good battery and has been for many years. However, I'm staying with the original battery and when the battery fails, I'll replace with the same, no question.

Hey, sometimes you get lucky. i owned a 1977 Monte Carlo Landau that had the original AC Delco battery in it and it lasted 5 years. so what ever floats your boat on what battery you like, I heard Duralast Platinum last long time too, it boils down to what works for you and your budget. But I am not going to put a mopar battery in mine when my dealership parts counter wont cut me a little slack.

My original battery actually had a pinhole leak in the bottom, filled my trunk with battery acid.
2 hours to clean it up.
Put in a top line Walmart battery 5 years ago, made by General Battery back then I'll be changing it out this spring
before road trips start as 5 years is about right for replacement.
My old 76 GMC 3/4 ton had the original Delco battery for 11 years, my dads neighbor bought the truck from a dealer 200 miles from where I sold it.

If this is a research test on your part, then one must assume you plan on researching into other methods. Is that true?
I've had new car batteries last anywhere from 6 months to 10+ years under all types of varying conditions and uses.
There are numerous variables and factors that contribute to a batteries longevity and/or lack of it, not to mention that what you think might be good for the battery isn't necessarily best for your car.

Don't think anyone would challenge another persons experience with their battery. Just another set of circumstances that could end up going in any direction.

I live in Florida and work at Advance Auto Parts plus 15 years at Sears Auto Center. I have changed 100's of batteries. My experience here in Florida is 3-4 years on average because of the warm temperatures. At Sears you could have purchased a Diehard Gold battery with a 100 month warranty; first 3 years free replacement than prorated for the balance. Unfortunately, batteries are becoming throw aways after the warranty. Manufacturers want you to replace them when they are no longer serviceable.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean or consider serviceable?
