at the Modern hemi shoot out series in New Orleans, Demons were running 10 flat all day long with Hellcats running high 10's and the DA is horrible down there.

No! I've only seen one at my drag strip and he was in the process of swapping over to real slicks. Never saw what he did I'm afraid.

Edit: I've seen a lot on YouTube of course but never reaching the 9.65 time.

    What a disappointment.
    $6.99 for a magazine of ad’s

    One page on the Hellcat.
Says the “discontinued” Demon could do 0-60 in 2.3 seconds
On a sticky drag strip surface.

I like that one, would be great for wet roads too,
but it cant't be the tire they are talking about:

"The tread pattern is non-directional and allows free tire rotation to extend the life of the tire at the drag strip. The proprietary tread compound is exclusive to Dodge and the Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320. "

Good catch. Which article/magazine did this statement come from? That tread design is certainly meant to help on wet roads but with the typical drag tire compound you still have to be careful.

In an attempt to quantify the AD's vs Articles ration of MOTOR TREND,
I came across some sad news:

    The "MONGOOSE" Dies at 81

    A true american SportsMan
    Not that John Force isn't entertaining. . . .

Here is a brief recap of McEwen's racing career:

Legendary Funny Car and Top Fuel racer Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen passed away Sunday at the age of 81.

McEwen had several health issues in recent years, including a battle with colon cancer. It was McEwen, along with one of his closest friends- and biggest rivals on the drag strip- Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, who helped bring NHRA drag racing into the mainstream with their fabled Hot Wheels cars sponsored by Mattel Toys in the early 1970s.

McEwen enjoyed numerous honors in his career, including being inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame, the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America and others. While he earned just five wins in NHRA national event competition, including a huge upset over Prudhomme in the 1978 U.S. Nationals just a few days after the death of McEwen’s son Jaime (see attached YouTube link), the Mongoose was a noted barnstorming racer who competed primarily on the West Coast. His rivalry with 4-time world champion Prudhomme began in the mid-1960s and became the biggest ticket on the national match-racing circuit.

Former team owner and crew chief Roland Leong once said: “McEwen was the smartest of the bunch. When he came up with the Hot Wheels deal using the Snake and Mongoose characters, it shook the world of drag racing big time big time. He produced a sponsorship package that allowed him and Prudhomme to buy the best equipment, pay expenses, make money and sell their image all over the United States.
