Yeah I chuckled too. Mechanical odometers with six digit rollers, BUT the last was for tenths. Ah, the good old days.

Not trying to argue with you just point out some of the history of the pistol. I apologize if I upset you.

I'm not upset AND I'm not an expert on Browning High Powers, but it just seemed to me you downplayed the contribution of JMB. From my understanding, the issues they had with the BHP both before, and after, JMB died was eventually solved with parts that the patents had run out on that also happened to be the patents that were originally issued/owned by Browning. There are many fine Firearms inventors, some even, deservedly so, world-renowned. NONE have ever, or possibly ever will, reach the Pinnacle of Browning.

Everybody has their favorite firearm devices and stand by them no matter what. And that's fine. And there are many many people, ALL better informed than me, that espouse the virtues and wonderment of Tupperware firearms. In my youth, during Combat Operations and now, as a older Adult, I've had the privilege of shooting a wide variety of firearms and Weapon Systems which included a few of Mr. Browning's inventions. I am unabashedly a disciple of JMB and forever a 1911 snob.

Personally, I prefer German superiority for my "Go-To" guns :)

But Mikhail Kalashnikov built stuff you can trust for the Zombie Apocalypse

Oh no, I fully give JMB credit to the Hi-Power, but his originally design was quite different for it that what it actually became. I can't remember all the details about it, but I know he originally designed it as a hammerless firearm. It wouldn;t be called a Browning Hi-Power if it wasn't for JMB. :)

Eitherway it's still a great Firearm and even though I am a huge 1911 fan, when I open my safe I instantly always pick up one of my Hi-Powers. I was at a gun show over the weekend and a dealer had a brand new, never fired, with original box and paperwork, Hi-Power El Capitan pistol. I wanted it so bad, but having two I just couldn't part with the $1105 price tag he was asking for it.

BUT doesn't it still have a 6 digit odometer (but, no Tenths)? Soooo it would have to hit 1 Million Miles for it to read 000000 ...
