    Hello,

I am getting my 19 scat pack supercharged next week. Other than having my mid muffler deleted, it's relatively stock. I've spoken to many many car friends in and out of the mopar family about mods and just came to the conclusion that all smaller mod will ultimately lead to this anyhow for those with the means/ money to do but not necessarily the means to buy a hellcat. That's me. Hellcat or redeye was kinda out of my financial means unless I got a used 15 or 16, possibly 17 model. Then I'm still looking at 58k plus from what I've found online. I'll admit that's the best route to go of you want that much power. However, i got the scat pack not really realizing I'd want to upgrade its power at the time. Trading in now I'm already upside down from 2 trades ago and that's also partly why I didn't get a hellcat to begin with. Got a great deal on this fully loaded scat brand new. With all this said, I paid 45k ttl out the door and the super charger will cost about 12.5k. So 57k for almost the power of a hellcat. Getting the bigger blower and intercooler. It's gonna get a custom tune using diablos unlocked pcm. I'm told by everyone including the people doing the work that dodge built the scat transmission and suspension to accommodate up to 650whp no problem. Any more power, I'd have to obviously start looking at upgrading transmission, suspension, pistons, rods, etc. I'm curious if anyone here has done this to their scat and what of any issues you've encounter? What questions should I be asking before they work on it? What should I ensure is done by them I need to address with them? Any pros cons besides obviously it voids the warranty (yes I checked)? Has anyone had just completely great experience with getting this done? Or anyone with completely bad experience? I am aware of most of the risks and a lot of the pros vs cons. Just trying to make sure I take the most precautions needed. They start next week on this. No going back after so....

    Thanks,
    Jason

I am no expert by a long shot...I have read issues with adding too much horsepower without changing your internal components to stronger forged equipment that will withstand the extra stress IE crank and rods
The other thing is being able to stop the car once the extra power is added. There’s lots of articles and YouTube videos discussing mods like this

The people doing my supercharger been doing business 22 plus years with strong localrecommendations. Some of whom I know. They claim the car in stock form needs no other change outs unless putting more than 650hp at the wheel. This should put me close. Maybe 620hp at the wheel give or take. With that said, I get a lot of mixed answers. Some say what you say and others say if it's tuned correctly it won't be necessary. These guys will be tuning the transmission. I asked specifically. So that should help. I do agree to be safest it may be best to change to forged pistons and rods at the least. Not sure how much additional it will cost but sure it would be best to do at the time of the supercharger install as they'll have to remove more later to install and since they're already removing engine parts now exposing pistons and rods makes sense.

The 6.4 Liters have a forged steel crank and better rods and pistons than what is used in the 5.7 Production engines. With that said though I don't know how much better and would be very careful with it after supercharging it. Even though the 6.4 Engines used forged internal they aren't as strong as a Eagle or Scat forged and balanced assembly.

Thanks for the insite. I didn't know the current scats used forged internals. But yeah, I'll try not to put constant daily load on the engine. If anything doing a few rolling races here and there. I may go to the drag eventually but think I'll upgrade more components before doing so.

Axles and rear ends, big problem there is that is not taken care of so you can support that extra HP.

I have seen plenty of broken or twisted axles at the track cause the stock ones can’t take the extra hp.

So are they going back to Dana-60, Ford 9" or spending BIG BUCKS to beef up the NEW Rear?

Good luck with all the mods. I have several friends that like to pursue more power on their muscle cars. It seems they are always going to the next "weakest link" once they bump the HP up. It's a sickness, an enjoyable sickness. :)
I personally can't justify spending big bucks on superchargers, beefing up the engine internals and driveline, etc. unless you're REALLY into drag racing. I don't think you'll break even on on the money spent when you sell the car. When I see or hear of cars with major power mods, I think of a car that's been driven hard and put away wet. Just saying...
