Some owners have removed the resonators on their cars to improve sound and performance. Personally, I wouldn't do it. Resonators are non-restrictive- almost a straight through design (see photo below, with fiberglass packing removed)- and eliminate annoying low-rpm droning.

Read the following informative article about the pros and cons of removal:

Removing them was the first thing I did. I think they weigh 35lbs each.

Taking them off made a big difference in my RT. With all the improvements done on the intake and headers it definitely help air flow.
    Sounds awesome as well!

Are there aftermarket resonator delete pipes or do you have to have a shop make them?

I did the resonator delete for the improved exhaust sound. I don't mind the drone between 1750-2100 RPM. It was a couple of hundred dollars and the shop made stainless replacement pipes. I love it!! Especially the burble/cackle when RPM is dropping.

On my first challenger, I had the muffler shop make them. It is just a short pipe and we attached the exhaust tips on to them.

On my RT that I have now. The exhaust system which is a Solo performance system, has j pipes in place to help tone down the drone since I have an automatic...

I used Blastin Bobs resonator delete kit and did it myself.

Thanks for the input. The stock 5.7 R/T exhaust note is just too quiet for me but I'm worried about the drone between 1,500-2,000 RPM (auto trans) or popping when decelerating. That's where most of my driving is done at and this is my daily driver. I also looked at the Flowmaster American Thunder cat back system. I have Flowmaster American Thunder on my Camaro that come with 40's (or 44's??) mufflers and it sounds perfect. It's aggressive when accelerating but fairly quiet while cruising with no drone. There's also a Flowmaster Force II but not sure how those would sound. When I have time I'll check out You Tube for some audio/videos.
I'm putting the winter tires on next week and I'll have all winter to think about the exhaust.

I have a 6 speed and really never get the drone as I don’t let it drop below 2000 rpm. You Tube has lots of videos by people changing exhaust parts. Really hard to get a full understanding of what it will sound like.
I just put mine up on a lift and dropped the oil to change for a long winters nap :(
We got over an inch of snow last night.... the salt will be on the roads soon
