    It's to protect your engine. If it significantly over-revs, it can lead to serious and expensive problems such as valve train damage (by causing a valve to stay open for too long), a thrown connecting rod, or flywheel clutch damage.

    Oh, I know why it's there.....I also know it could make it very hard to 'rock your vehicle' out of a stuck situation if ya need to......
