I'd like to move to a wider tire without sacrificing the profile too much. Currently have 245 x 45 x 20 stock tires. I would like a little more contact patch. All replies are welcome.[IMG]

275/40/20 will be the biggest you can go on those stock rims.

Thanks much, you're on target. I guess that's the closest match. A slight difference in sidewall height which I'm uncertain.

When I need my next set that is what I am going to. Seen them on many a challenger and charger and they look good.

    * The sidewall height is slightly decreased with the 275 (-0.25) > -0.2%. On the 245, sidewall height is 4.34, as opposed to 4.33 on the 275. I believe the sidewall height is low enough with the 245, going lower to 4.33 concerns me. What do you think?

However, you pick up 1.18 inches more (12.2%) with the 275 in width. This is a dilemma to me as which to choose. No real money issues to either size tire. The speedometer difference is trivial, as to benefit the 275 for slightly lower calibration. You're turning more Revolutions per mile with the 275 (0.1%). Every little detail counts.

I can always adjust Speedo with my tuner. But as what everyone wants is more rubber on the road. Just saying. And yeah I know the side wall is shorter. That makes for a little rougher ride. But oh well.

Do you think you’d notice That little bit of sidewall height? Why is that a concern?
Do you plan to put the 275 at all 4 corners or just the rears?

    * My intentions were originally to install 4 (275) but the sidewall height is lower than the 245. In this respect, I may move to staggered. Could you provide a front tire size to go with the 245 x 45 x 20, to possibly have the wedge and to lower the car, if possible. Thanks very much for your interest. If I can obtain a slant with the staggered, accompanied by a lower profile front nose, I may try it contingent upon your opinion.

    * I believe that I may run into the same issue with staggered (Sidewall Height); even worse.

The sidewall height will definitely change how stiff the car handles.
I doubt you'll see any difference with speedometer reading between these tire sizes due to height. I don't have time to research it right now but I'd bet there is more than a 0.02 inch difference in overall height just between different tire manufacturers for the same size tire.
Also, the tread wear on a tire will reduce the height of the tire by more than this 0.02" difference. A tire that is worn down by just 1/32" comes out to 0.032".
Mathmatically, the speedo calibration is changing more just because your tires are wearing down, but as mentioned before the difference is trivial.
