Well, chalk this up as a learning experience. Side exit exhaust dont do it!

Got the new side exit exhaust installed. Got to take it off though, it's too loud and drags on the ground every so often. It's a long video. It's a cold start to a warm 650 idle. It starts to warm up at 3 minutes and completely idles down at 5 minutes. The video is almost 6 minutes long.

 

The cam sounds good, nice and lumpy. Did you record this with the car in a garage? It would be nice to hear it outside, standing outside the car.

Yes was in garage. I'll be swapping the exhaust this week for something else and will do a sound clip outside before I remove this one.

The problem I have been having is that last summer I had a Ford 9-inch installed from DSS. The exhaust system was only about an eighth of an inch away from the output bearings on the pumpkin. This caused the lube to overheat and boil and it also cooked the inner CV joints. The CV joint and Axle Repair cost me almost six hundred bucks. Kind of pissed me off since it was a brand new rear end. And I had to foot the bill for the repairs because the guy that installed the rear end for me didn't give two thoughts about heat soak from the pipes ruining everything. Not too happy about that. But it is what it is. So I have to build another custom exhaust with mufflers and spouts under the car. Then next year I will have some custom tail pipes made to replace the spouts. For now I just want to get the car rolling again. So if the pipes have to dump right after the muffler under the rear seat then so be it.

I did a vid outside garage after a warm up cruize. When I got home I saw that my new x pipe was on the front porch. So Wednesday I will raise the car up in the garage and start installing my new system with my mufflers. I have Flowmaster FX stainless Mufflers to go on it.

 

It's a shame you can't find some thin glasspacks or chambered pipes to replace a small portion of the existing straight pipes. I know, ground clearance could be an issue.

I basically did it just to do it. Always wanted to try it. If it worked out cool, if not oh well only out a few bucks and I got to say I did it. I'm going to remove the side exit exhaust and hang it on the wall in my garage bar as a trophy.

Next year I've got a guy in the Chicago suburbs who does custom exhaust who will install tail pipes in place of the spouts.

 

No new x pipe and mufflers with spouts have been installed. The car is very quiet now compared to how I have been running it over the last 6 years. But it will become one hell of a sleeper. Email tuning starts tomorrow.

 

Email tuning has been coming along quite nicely. It is finally running well. It will be perfect soon. The new exhaust and Xpipe (flowmaster Xforce mufflers installed with spouts) flow so well compared to the factory H pipe and straight pipes that my boost dropped almost 2 points at 6K from 12.0 to about 10.0 psi. My tune guy was able to add 3* timing and wake it the heck up. It runs HARD. And their is still more tuning to go.

I found a road to log on buy my house. I took it out there and started to log. After I was done logging I proceeded to upload to an email and send it to my tune guy. While pulled over in the middle of nowhere, a guy in a Jeep pulled up to see if I was ok. I explained what was going on and he was all like "dude, no one out here will care. In fact I live right over there, how bout you follow me home and give me a ride in that thing". So I did... He loved it.

 

Tuning has come to a halt. Have a big issue. When Arrington installed the ProCharger back in 2016, the engine was stock and they set it up for 7 psi. The kit that they used from ProCharger did not come with a fuel pump and with that setup a new HO pump was not required. At the time I was new to all of this stuff. When the new forged 5.7 was installed in 2018-2019, I requested that a new dual pump unit be installed. Long story short, I was charged for the labor to install the pump but no pump was installed (just found this out yesterday when I removed the fuel pump). I had TB install a Boost A Pump last fall in order to get the fuel psi/volume up to snuff but that pump (original to the car) is now failing and causing the car to go lean. After much research I found that Aeromotive makes a 525lph replacement pump and I have ordered one and will be removing the Boost A Pump. But the pump will not be here until first week of July. So I am now going on 2 years since starting this project. I hope I can get it wrapped up by the end of the summer.

The car is at the local Dealership having the new BMR on car adjustable rear links installed.
