Some Challenger owners, who have done the Hellcat headlight air intake mod, are are concerned about possible debris and bugs entering the duct. A solution is D.I.P.S. It stands for direct intake port screen. It is installed on the backside of every Hellcat, Redeye and Demon brake duct. It keeps debris out of vital intakes, ducts and passages. They are made of aluminum and are certified for use in NASCAR. Here is a photo of one.
Not to keen on the look of that. I’ve been thinking of a way to have the screen further recessed into the intake tube. I want to do both sides since Ive pulled the filler on the other side to let more air into the engine bay.
Same here...which is why I haven't done this ..... If ya figure something out, lemme know please.....
Would never do that on mine. The coolest part of the tube is the lit interior. That screen would totally ruin the effect.
My '15 SRT doesn't have lights inside the intake tube. So, when I changed to the T/A style CAI, I opened up both sides and put the DIPS screens on both sides. You would have to be as close as that closeup picture to know they're eve there. Mine are at the front, but Merrick Motorsports makes ones that mount at the rear of the headlight tube: https://merrickmotorsports.com/coll...ht-intake-grilles-screens/intake-rings-screen
I like the look of the grill type, a bit pricey at $65 for the pair of open style. Ive sent Merrick an email to see if they have any pics of the installed both ways
Nice! I had seen aftermarket lit tubes didnt realize they came stock Apparently the aftermarket ones I had seen need to have factory lit tubes; https://fastysgarage.com/shop/ols/p...w-lighted-intake-upgrade-boards-for-oem-tubes They do have kits for 2015 and up as well
Can't tell you how many people I showed the lit tubes to after I got the car. Silly maybe but I was telling friends "...yeah, the car's cool but check out the headlights!" Sometimes it's the little details that really attract me.
