Exactly........my 1st yr of junior high

 

So you're younger than a I thought. I was figuring 60 years old if the storm was while you were a junior in high school but if you were still in junior high I'm guessing you're more like 56?? Either way, you saw history!!

 

you go it......56 this past august

parents woke me & my sister up @ 0300 or so to see it.....

 

In Jacksonville we had a flake or three in 2010 and again in 2018 for about 5 minutes.

The most we got was December 1989. We got about 1.5" all over town and more in places. The challenge was that we had rain, then freezing rain, then sleet, then snow, then more freezing rain over about a 24-hour period. And once the bridges over the St. Johns River froze over, the city came to a halt and waited for it to melt. They finally got some dump trucks out to the beach and brought some sand to put on the bridges to make things a little less treacherous.

I had a buddy that owned a Body Shop and he said he damned near paid for his kids college eduction from that one storm.

magical...probably not, we had seen and played in snow before.....but neat...yeah.....

it did took a few days for the snow under the airboat we parked in the back yard to go away.......

 

Hah, here we try to stay in bed all day so we DON'T see it!

 

To me, winter without snow always sucked. The worst winters were ones that were only cold and wet. I loved snow, even though it always meant a lot of work for me. That being said, there WERE some winters when even I was sick of the snow, so I can see dreading it if you live in an area that routinely gets a lot throughout the winter.

Oh My!!!

We've been in Treasure Island, Florida for the week where it's been in the mid-80s to 90 all week. Until today.

I guess we got the same "cold" front that you got because it was only 76 today. But it did make for a very comfortable day at the beach!

Good thing the water temperature in the Gulf of Mexico is still 82. The doctor did a little cutting on my wife's toe a couple of weeks ago. So between a very pink water shoe - and a nitrile glove - she was able to keep it dry enough to enjoy the water.

This area relies on "Snow Birds" business from Thanksgiving to Easter to survive the rest of the year. It will certainly hurt if the border remains closed between Canada and the US. Even more so on the East coast of Florida.
